Welcome to second grade!
I am a teacher of 26 years and have taught nearly every grade from K-6th. Each grade is special in its own way, but I love 2nd grade!
To give a little background on myself, I grew up in New York just outside NYC. I received a B.S. in
Journalism with a minor in Photography from the University of North
Alabama and an M.T. in Elementary Education from the University of
Virginia with K-4 and 4-8 endorsements. I am NETS*T certified and an NTTI Master Teacher which has driven my desire to use technology in the classroom as much as possible. My awards include the 1996 Virginia Teacher of the
Year and the 2014 Golden Apple Teacher for Crozet. I try to use my love of photography and experiences traveling abroad
in my teaching whenever possible. I have an avid interest in science and lead STEM clubs after school and volunteer at the county wide Girls Geek Days.
When not at school I enjoy spending time with my 17 and 29 year old boys and my
husband, Jim, who is also a teacher and shares my passion for teaching. We enjoy traveling, cooking, and gardening together.
