5/3/2017 10:31 AMCongratulations Chloe Horner!

WAHS Junior Chloe Horner attended the Virginia Choral Director's Association All Virginia choir event at Virginia Tech. Chloe was one of two soprano 1s to be chosen from District 13 and spent the weekend working with the top vocalists from all over the state with an esteemed guest conductor from Temple University. They performed a phenomenal concert on Saturday for parents, family members, friends, and educators from all over the state at the Moss Arts Center on Virginia Tech's campus. This was a huge accomplishment for Chloe to represent Western Albemarle Choir at this event and we could not be more proud of her!

2/15/2017 11:43 AMA Terrific District Choir Weekend!

This past weekend, four Western Albemarle students had the honor of attending the District 13 Choir Festival in Culpeper, VA. Students from 11 different schools across Central VA auditioned in November, and less than 175 were accepted, making up two choirs. Among the students accepted were Chloe Horner, Austin Rhea, Frannie Gibson, and Tristan Rose. These four had the opportunity to work with two phenomenal guest directors on Friday and Saturday, and perform and exceptional concert on Saturday afternoon. Congratulations to these four on a successful audition into a prestigious ensemble, as well as an incredible concert.

Along with this festival, District 13 held All Virginia Choir auditions. Juniors and Seniors that were accepted into Districts had the opportunity to audition for this choir, which will hold rehearsals and a concert at the end of April at Virginia Tech. Each District chooses 24 representatives - two in each voice part. Austin Rhea will be our second alternate for alto one, and Chloe Horner is our soprano one delegate to attend the festival in April.

We are incredibly proud of all students involved this weekend and congratulate them on their continued successes.
