Past Project: Agnor-Hurt Elementary School

Redistricting Decision

On March 14, 2013, the School Board made several decisions regarding redistricting students at Agnor-Hurt Elementary:

Neighborhoods with 94 current students at Agnor-Hurt Elementary will be moved into the attendance zones for three neighboring schools. Students from neighborhoods along Woodlands and Earlysville Roads will move to Broadus Wood Elementary School. Students from the Northfield and Huntington Roads neighborhood will move to Woodbrook Elementary School. Students from the Townwood and Squirrel Ridge neighborhoods will move to Greer Elementary School. All rising fifth graders and their siblings are permitted to remain at Agnor-Hurt for one more year, but they must provide their own transportation or use an existing Agnor-Hurt bus stop if bus capacity is available.

The second decision is to redistrict middle school students from the Northfield Road/Huntington Road neighborhood to Jouett Middle School to allow all future Woodbrook students to attend the same middle school. All rising sixth, seventh and eighth grade students from Northfield/Huntington are permitted to remain at Burley Middle School until they complete middle school, but they must provide their own transportation or use an existing Burley bus stop if capacity allows.

According to a July report by the Long-Range Planning Advisory Committee, Agnor-Hurt Elementary School is more than 100 students over capacity this year, and the school's enrollment is projected to grow over the next five years.

At their September 23, 2012 meeting, the School Board directed Superintendent Pam Moran to appoint a Redistricting Advisory Committee to address capacity issues at multiple county elementary schools. The Agnor-Hurt Redistricting Advisory Subcommittee will review enrollment numbers and projections as well as capacity at Agnor-Hurt Elementary School.
