Free Sports Physicals for High School Athletes This Saturday, July 29

(ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Virginia) – The 10th annual Charlottesville Community Health Fair will be this Saturday, July 29, at Booker T. Washington Park in Charlottesville. The Fair will be conducted from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Among the free services that will be offered to families are the required sports physicals for students who are planning to participate in an interscholastic activity for the 2017-18 school year. Physical forms are available at local high schools or online at:

Parents and guardians are asked to call 434-243-2079 to schedule a student sports physical ahead of time.

The Health Fair also provides information on health and wellness and health screenings for blood pressure, body mass index, diabetes, kidney disease, vision and hearing, and peripheral artery disease. Mammogram examinations are available for those who are at least 40 years of age. Participants should bring their insurance card to cover the cost. Programs are available to cover the cost for women who do not have health insurance.

The Fair is being conducted in conjunction with the 28th annual African American Cultural Arts Festival. Event partners include the University of Virginia (UVA) Office of the Vice President and Chief Officer for Diversity and Equity; UVA Health System; Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital; and the Thomas Jefferson Health District of the Virginia Department of Health.
