PARENT TEACHER STUDENT ORGANIZATION
This Monday night, April 15 from 5:30 – 8:30, the Albemarle County and Charlottesville City Public Schools will join Safe Schools/Healthy Students in hosting “The Power of Choices: Teens, Decisions and Alcohol” in the Lane Auditorium of the Albemarle County Office Building in downtown Charlottesville.
Featured speakers are Chris Sandy and Eric Krug, two men with personal stories about the ways their lives forever changed after incidents involving drinking and driving. These two men have committed their lives to sharing their stories in the hopes that people of all ages will be inspired to make safe, positive choices related to drinking and driving.
This free event begins with a resource fair, food and door prizes at 5:30 on Monday evening. Presentations begin at 6:30, followed by opportunities for parents and students to select one of three discussions: (1) Talking With Your Child About Alcohol (for parents), (2) Hoos Drinking? (for students) or (3) Contract for Life (for parents and students).
The PTSO will hold their general meeting the second Monday of each month in the Forum from 6:00 - 7:00.
The purposes of the PTSO as stated in the by-laws are to:
- assist the staff at Monticello High School in providing the best program of education possible;
- promote the welfare of Monticello High School; and
- assist in the continuous improvement of school facilities.
